Summer Wedding at Elberta Life Saving Station | Frankfort, Michigan Wedding Photographer

Some wedding days feel like a perfect reflection of the couple themselves. This beautiful summer wedding at the Elberta Life Saving Station in Frankfort, Michigan was exactly that—joyful, adventurous, heartfelt, and filled with the kind of love that extends far beyond just the Kyle and Adriel.

Surrounded by the natural beauty of Northern Michigan, these two outdoor-loving souls chose one of the most unique wedding venues along Lake Michigan to celebrate their marriage. From the stunning waterfront views to the laughter shared among family and friends, every part of the day reflected the life they have built together and the community that surrounds them.

Why the Elberta Life Saving Station Is One of Northern Michigan’s Most Unique Wedding Venues

Located just outside Frankfort, Michigan, the Elberta Life Saving Station offers couples a wedding venue unlike any other in the state. Perched along the shores of Lake Michigan, the historic station combines rich history, breathtaking scenery, and a relaxed Northern Michigan atmosphere.

For couples who love the outdoors, it’s easy to see why this venue is becoming increasingly popular. The combination of sandy beaches, lake views, rolling dunes, and historic architecture creates endless opportunities for meaningful wedding photographs.

Whether you’re planning a destination wedding in Northern Michigan or a celebration close to home, the Elberta Life Saving Station offers a truly unforgettable setting.

A Wedding Day Rooted in Adventure and Connection

From the beginning of the day, it was clear that these two share a deep love for the outdoors and for the people around them.

Their wedding wasn’t focused on elaborate details or rigid schedules. Instead, the day centered on spending meaningful time with family and friends while celebrating the start of a new chapter together.

One of the things that stood out most was the incredible support surrounding them. Every guest seemed genuinely invested in their happiness, creating an atmosphere filled with encouragement, laughter, and joy from start to finish.

As a wedding photographer, those are often the weddings that produce the most authentic images—the ones where couples feel fully present and free to simply enjoy the experience.

Lake Michigan Wedding Portraits Along the Shore

One of the greatest advantages of getting married at the Elberta Life Saving Station is the incredible variety of portrait locations available within minutes of the ceremony and reception.

The Lake Michigan shoreline and Frankfort Lighthouse provided a stunning backdrop for wedding portraits, with soft summer light reflecting across the water and warm breezes coming off the lake. The surrounding dunes and natural landscapes created a sense of adventure that perfectly matched the couple’s personalities.

Instead of feeling posed or staged, the portraits felt like an extension of who they are—two people who genuinely enjoy exploring the outdoors together.

The result was a collection of images that felt natural, timeless, and uniquely Northern Michigan.

A Celebration Filled With Joy

As the day unfolded, one thing became increasingly evident: this wasn’t just a wedding; it was a gathering of people who deeply care for one another.

Heartfelt conversations, emotional embraces, spontaneous laughter, and packed dance floors all reflected the strong relationships that helped shape this couple’s journey.

Their families and friends created an environment where everyone felt welcome, supported, and excited to celebrate together. The joy was contagious and could be felt in every moment.

These are often the memories that couples cherish most years later—not just the beautiful scenery, but the people who stood beside them as they began married life.

Why Frankfort, Michigan Is Perfect for a Summer Wedding

For couples who love spending time outdoors, few locations capture the beauty of Northern Michigan quite like Frankfort and Elberta.

Adriel and Kyle’s Wedding Day

About a year ago, Kyle and Adriel visited the Frankfort beach. Overlooking Lake Michigan, Kyle proposed to Adriel, and she said yes! Fast forward another year, Kyle and Adriel had planned their Northern Michigan Destination wedding at the Elberta Life Saving Station.

The day was beautiful as Kyle and Adriel prepared for their wedding at the Frankfort Hotel. The blue skies, a warm breeze and the turquoise waters of Lake Michigan surrounded them as they had their first look on the beach to begin their day’s celebration.

Following their first look, their wedding party joined them to head to the Stormcloud Brewing Company, which one should not miss if you like beer!  After an fun filled time spent with their bridal party at the Stormcloud, they all headed to the Life Saving Station for their wedding and reception.

It was a perfect evening of celebration outside, under the starts, with a full moon, and overlooking Betsie Bay and Lake Michigan. And it ended with a fantastic re-creation of the Dirty Dancing lift to close out the evening. We were so honored to have been invited to play a part in photographing your wedding day. Congratulations Kyle and Adriel!  Much love and appreciation, Rayan.
