Traverse City Wedding
MR. & MRS. WATSON
September 21, 2018
It was a fairly cool fall day in Traverse City Michigan as we started out the morning at the Epiphany Salon with Rachael and all of her ladies preparing for the day. We could see the storm clouds rolling in and we were not sure what the weather was going to do. Rachael set the tone for the day right up front: “If it rains, we are still getting married outside and doing portraits outside.” As the ceremony time was nearing, we realized the rain was going to pass us by.
Rachael and Mike were excited to be married on the front lawn of the Mission Table on the gorgeous Old Mission Peninsula. The lawn overlooks Grand Traverse Bay, is full of tall trees, and has the beautiful reception venue of the Peninsula Room right next to the grape vineyards.
As Rachael walked down the aisle, Mike had the largest smile on his face and Rachael was simply beaming with excitement of knowing they were finally getting married. The ceremony was a little more brief than planned, given the high winds coming off of the Bay, which were very cold. Following the ceremony, everyone headed to the reception after to warm up and celebrate. As the evening was moving along, a vehicle driving on the Peninsula ran into the transformer supplying electricity to the Peninsula Room, and the power went out.
We could not have asked for a more supportive and helpful group of vendors. The Peninsula Room moved into action to keep the reception humming along. And 2 Bay’s DJ’s went above and beyond to bring in two generators to get the music up and running for the dancing portion fo the reception.
And most importantly, Rachael and Mike embraced the unexpected circumstances with absolute grace. Rachael and Mike’s first dance was supplied music by the best man while all of the guests held up their cell phones to shine a light on the couple. The reception ran on the generators for awhile until the power came back on. The rest of the evening was spent celebrating this amazing couple and their marriage with dancing, laughter, and love.
It was a wedding to remember, and I am so glad I was there to capture your day. Rachael and Mike, Congratulations on your marriage and I wish you the best as you move through life embracing the unexpected moments! Much love and appreciation – Rayan.
