thank you
Congratulations on your engagement and upcoming wedding. Your upcoming wedding is the day you have been waiting for. All of your favorite people in one location. All of the beautiful things in place. And behind everything there is a palpable energy: there is a feeling of excitement and anticipation, love and laughter, and joy. This is what I love most about photographing weddings. Capturing your moments in photograph: the love, the ceremony, the connections, and the details.
And hopefully that’s why you’re here: to see if I am available to thoughtfully document your beautiful experience, to capture you and the ones you love in a place that is important to you. Thank you again for contacting me, and hopefully I will hear back from you soon.
~Rayan
How I Work
My collection for a full day wedding is created so that you do not feel like you have to compress all of the activities you would like photographed into a shorter amount of time (IE: an 8 hour wedding day). This means I will be there around 10-13 hours depending on how your day unfolds. I tend to start at the beginning of your day, when you are getting ready, and we end some time into dancing. All weddings are different and I don't want to assume yours follows any template. The photos you see on my site and social media are moment driven, they are not staged. In addition to documenting your moments, we will definitely spend time capturing those amazing and epic portraits of you in the area you are getting married at.
story verses plot
Couples always ask me, "why do you photograph weddings and what is your favorite part of the wedding day?" The answer to both of those question is the same, it is your STORY. Let me explain. Wedding days are typically, well, typical. They follow the same plot. The day is made up of getting ready, the wedding, family portraits, couple portraits, socializing, dinner, and dancing. But, underneath all of that is...your STORY and how the day unfold within the plot. The Story of the two of you coming together in marriage and your experiences with those whom you love most. This is what I love about photographing weddings, and this is why I photograph weddings.
It is common to have just the plot photographed. Those "plot" photos are more of a snap shot of the day. They are the photos of the two of you being directed to stand in a static pose for a photo, the makeup artist holding the light and brush just right for the photographer faking you having your makeup done, people walking into the reception, or just sitting at the table looking into the distance.
In order to photograph the Story, you have to photograph the moments that happen on the wedding day that tell the story: your mother touching your arm in support just before the wedding, your brother tearing up when he sees you for the first time, the photo of you and your partner laughing joyously drinking wine at sunset, a photo of the beautiful moment when saying I do, and more. I photograph this way because, 10 years from now, I want you to look at your photos and say, "Wow, what a beautiful moment, I remember feeling that way." I don't want you to say: What a beautiful photo of the photographer posing the makeup artist after your makeup has been completed. The reality of your story is so much more interesting compared to anything on a photographer's check list. Your story is what is important. And that, is what I love to photograph.

a lasting memory
There is something magical about a printed image on the wall or in an album. Wedding images are full of emotion and they bring you back to the memory of that moment. As a result, I believe they need to be printed and available to look at to remind you of the beauty of your relationships and celebration.
In the age of digital images, it is so common for us to file our images away in a folder on our computer, only be seen every now and again. When this happens, the photographer in me quietly questions why you paid to have me there on your day if you did not intend to do something with your photos.
So, print your photos, place them on walls, on fridges, or in books. Because every time you walk past that photo you will remember the feeling of that day and smile. And one day your children will thank you too.
This is why I include an album with my wedding collection.
ALBUMS & FINE ART
I include an album in my all day collections.
Each 20 page album will have photos you chose and will be design how you would like the album. They are custom made by hand in Italy with care. They are an heirloom you will treasure.

THE timelines
What is the difference between 8 hour photography coverage compared to a full day of photography coverage? A lot! With an 8 hour coverage, you loose a good portion of the morning and evening coverage. Many time, you will be rushed to get first dances and toasts done. And if your getting ready or wedding is in a different location from your reception, you loose even more time with the 8 hour wedding timeline. With full day coverage, you don't feel rushed, moments can organically happen, and you are not pressured to choose what parts of the day have photography coverage. See the examples below of an 8 hour verses a full day of photography coverage.

YOUR QUESTIONS
Where are you based?
I am based in Lansing, Michigan, but I spend my summers in the Traverse City, Michigan area. I tend to photograph all around Michigan, but I am also willing to travel.
How does payment work?
When you book me, I create a contract we both sign noting the services I will be providing you. I ask for a booking deposit/retainer of 30%. The remainder is due 30 days prior to the wedding.
when are the images delivered?
I typically deliver a sneak peek a day or two after your wedding. The entire gallery of images will be delivered within 12 weeks of your wedding. Please note that I travel all around for weddings, so sometimes delivery will be delayed a week or two, I hope you don't mind. It will be worth the wait. I want to make sure I deliver a product I believe in and not a rush job.
how many wedding images will i receive?
For a full day of wedding photography, you will generally receive something around 800-1000 images.
